This is a quick chart from The primitive hare. I made it into a small cushion as a gift for a friend. Now that it has been safely received, I thought I could post a few photos I took before sending. It is stitched on 32ct Belfast linen in a most lovely shade called vintage mocha, using black DMC threads. I loved stitching it: you really get the impression you are using ink and pen rather than needle and threads. Jane Austen's signature just comes alive stitch after stitch.

Questo è un piccolo schema di The primitive hare. L'ho confezionato come un cuscinetto per un regalo ad un'amica. Ora che l'ha ricevuto, ho pensato di pubblicare qualche immagine scattata prima di spedirlo. E' ricamato su lino Belfast 32ct, in una bellissima tonalità chiamata vintage mocha, con fili DMC neri. E' stato piacevolissimo da ricamare: si ha veramente l'impressione di usare inchiostro e pennino invece di ago e filo. La firma di Jane Austen si "scrive" sulla tela, crocetta dopo crocetta.

crochet jewels... gioielli all'uncinetto

I saw the charts for these necklaces on a magazine and thought they might look nice on a summer dress. I had some cotton yarn in a natural shade, and last night I decided to try making one. They are quick projects so a second necklace was ready in no time. And a third is almost finished... :D Addictive jewellery, isn't it? I just need to buy some clasps to close them and they will be ready to wear...

Ho visto gli schemi per queste collane su una rivista e mi è venuto in mente che potevano essere carine indossate su un vestito estivo. Avevo del cotone in una nuance molto naturale e l'altra sera ho pensato di provare a farne una. Sono progetti rapidissimi, per cui in un attimo era già pronta la seconda collanina. E una terza è quasi finita... :D  Gioielli di rapida creazione, non c'è che dire!! Ora devo solo comprare un paio di chiusure adatte e saranno pronte da indossare...

french knot, colonial knot... punto nodini

French knots have always troubled me... Instead of a nice, plump, little knot I usually manage to produce only a ridiculous, crooked bunch of tangled threads! Or, failing that, a small flat half stitch. Glad to say that all this trouble is over now: last night I discovered colonial knots. I followed the instructions that appeared in an american magazine, and produced two lovely small black knots in no time. Magic!

I punto nodo classico, il nodo francese, mi ha sempre dato dei problemi... Invece di un bel nodino gonfio e morbido, tutto quello che sono sempre riuscita a ottenere erano dei buffi garbugli di filo, tutti storti! O in alternativa dei mezzi punti, piccoli e piatti. Lieta di annunciare che tutto questo è ormai dimenticato. L'altra sera ho scoperto il nodo coloniale (colonial knot). Ho seguito le istruzioni trovate su una rivista americana, e ottenuto subito due deliziosi piccoli nodini neri. In un attimo. Magia!!

pockets... taschine...

I am still trying to find a good use for my scraps of fabric... so here is another one. This is worked on 25-count vintage lugana, and lined with some really gorgeous red fabric that reminds me of Elizabethan tapestries. 

Continuo a cercare modi simpatici per usare i piccoli pezzi di stoffa che ho in giro per il mio cassetto del ricamo... ed eccone un altro. E' ricamato su una tela lugana vintage, 25-count, e foderato con una stoffina splendida. Rossa, con un disegno che mi ricorda le tapezzerie elisabettiane!

I was so pleased with the way it turned up that I made a second one to give away!

Sono così contenta del risultato che ne ho già ricamato un altro da regalare!
